What have we done with our soul?
The history of mankind can be summed up in one scripture:
Genesis 2:7 says, “Then the LORD God formed the man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”
This was the beginning of mankind with Adam being the first then Eve. And from both sprang all of mankind. Going forward to over 6000 years of history. In every man is a soul provided by God. All of what you are form the beginning was authored and made from him. Given to you though his power to become a unique being made in His image.
Each one of us was given the soul we have by God. We are to live life in a way that honors him and live to our best potential that that means. Everything we do should carry that in mind.
One thing that many do not grasp in this world is that everything we do in this body will be judged.
Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
One of the most penetrating realities we need to face in life is that we all will be judged with the soul we were given. Everything we have done in this body we will be asked to give an account of.
For the Christian at one point you realize this fate so you also know that you want to be saved from the things you have done in sin.
The world around us for the large majority who have heard this gospel have either dismissed it or feel they do not need it. Either way we all still will be judged. You also realize that the only one who can save us from sin is Jesus Christ. We need him to be free of our sins we committed in the body.
While this may be a deep and sobering subject we need to remember it always as we go through each day. Even though as Christians we are forgiven of our past sins we need Him to continually forgive us of the sins we commit. We also need to demonstrate this reality in our lives to refrain from sinful behavior to the best we can. Our efforts to do this stem from the faith in us and these things are judged as well. For the good of what they are.
Hebrews continues on: 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
That is the reality and importance of living the Christian way of life. We need him and look forward to the salvation He brings!
