They will not rule forever

This week there were a lot of cities that were in the spotlight for bad reasons. Los Angeles erupted into violence against the ICE raids that are taking place to remove illegal aliens. This spilled over into several other cities around the US and the world. The tragic part is watching incompetent leadership place the blame elsewhere and try to pretend the problem isn’t theirs or that it is not as bad as it looks. This leadership has already proven its lack of ability to follow basic moral guidelines to protect the citizens they represent. In other countries the violence is related and unrelated. Lack of sound leadership or perverted leadership is at the center of it all. A great deal of the violence in the United States is because the current administration is trying to uphold laws that protect the country and its people. When people openly rebel against enforcing the law it paints a dark picture of where we are headed. To those who are watching all this it can seem very hopeless and that these people in charge will always escape the consequences of their actions. When the Psalms in the Bible were written such a failure in leadership was also noticed but the reality of what would happen was also recognized. Look at Psalms 2:

1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” 7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron, you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

As a Christian it causes us to sigh and cry to see how far we have fallen in recent years. The leadership does not want to keep to the law but break its shackles and create their own rules for their own purpose. It is not about the people they are supposed to be serving, make no mistake, they are serving themselves. In the end it will lead to their destruction. Any time a society has tried to go away from God’s laws and moral conduct it always fails at some point. To put it simply, you cannot go against God and win! We know that Jesus Christ will someday return to put the nations under His feet and restore what they tried to remove. We also know it will be far better than what we have now.

We all look forward to that day, every day.
