Correction through foreign invaders
When I was in college I did a term paper on the prophet Isaiah. To this day I still remember the in depth look at what the book consisted of and the person he was. Isaiah was tasked with telling Judah and Israel about their sins and soon coming captivity. As a conduit for the Lord’s own words he did not hold back and right from the beginning the charges against God’s people were read out to them.
One part of this passage stands out in recent times and that is Isaiah 1:7:
7 Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire;
your fields are being stripped by foreigners
right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.
This passage showed the people that punishment was coming from Him and this included strangers and foreigners taking their land and possessions.
Recently this passage has been quoted quite a bit. Especially with those from Somalia and how they took advantage of the Minnesota and United States government for over 2 billion in fraud. A good portion of this money was used to fund a known terrorist network as well. It was also discovered that there was SNAP benefit fraud in a similar manner involving people from Haiti in Massachusetts. Combined with the civil unrest caused by years of open borders and a lack of supporting the law we are seeing similar events to what Isaiah described unfold. The open borders in all countries that have allowed them have been costly to the host countries in many ways. Some countries especially in Europe have reversed course in allowing refugees and illegal immigrants into their countries but for some the damage has been too deep to be fixed now.
The reality is often in the course of history God has used foreign powers to humble nations for his reasoning. It was almost always a result of sin. It also did not matter what nation, kingdom, or country it was, He used invading forces to conquer them and humble them before His sight. This usually follows a long slide into decaying and falling into moral depravity. In the past Israel was overthrown quite a few times but so were other empires including the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire fell under the weight of foreign invasion in 476 AD. The climate was very similar to that of the United States in the past several years.
Could this be the beginning of a captivity for the US? The end time book of Revelation shows that there is a captivity that precedes Jesus Christ’s return. These events shape the entire world. It follows a steep decline in the moral basis of all mankind and a world order based on sin.
Like in Isaiah He foretold of the soon coming Messiah and how all these nations will be put under His feet It gives his people hope that such things as these will come to pass and Jesus Christ will reign with His Father forever.
