Without saying, this winter has been difficult for most people. It seems where we live we have been getting blasted with snow and ice on a regular basis. There has been at least one storm affecting our area every week since November. For those who study the bible a certain scripture comes to mind in the Book of Job:
Job 38:22“Hast thou entered into the treasure house of the snow, or hast thou seen the treasure house of the hail, 23 which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
This statement came from God when he was asking Job where he was in the greatness of God. It was one of many things that God used to show his greatness in the light of Jobs complaint for his trials that God allowed him to go through.
While science shows that snow and hail are formed from the conditions that favor them in the atmosphere, the reality is God still controls their physical nature. For Job and us he was reminding us that he has the ultimate say in how snow and hail form and where they do.
We also see His divine control in Amos 4:7
“I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up.
This was in regards to the punishment of the nation of Isreal for their sins. Also like with the book of Job it shows that the storehouses of snow and hail were saved for days of war and battle. This also shows that God used them to put His will into man’s conflicts. Throughout the centuries many wars have had their outcomes controlled by weather phenomenon. These scriptures show where the source of them likely was.
We also see in Leviticus 26:4 and 3 other places in the bible that the blessed get rain when it is needed as a sign of their blessing for God. His control of the weather works for the god and the bad as rewards of punishment.
Even with man’s attempts to control the weather through climate actions and initiatives they will never have the desired effect that man wishes for them to have. God still has his divine authority over nature as he did from beginning and will have forever.
